Sohrob MOTTAGHI

Sohrob Mottaghi was born in 1982 in Alabama, United States of America. He completed his B.Sc.in Mechanical Engineering at Islamic Azad University (IAU)-Tehran Central Branch (Iran) in 2006, defending his thesis on the design and manufacturing of microelectromechanical systems (MEMS).

In 2007, he started his graduate studies in M.S. in Mechatronics at IAU, before returning to the USA. In 2009, he started his Ph.D. studies on fluid-structure interaction at the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Rutgers University. Due to his long-lasting interest in space sciences, he started his research work on lunar settlement as a side project in 2010. His fascination for the topic leaded him to defend his M.S. thesis entitled: “Design of a lunar surface structure,” in 2013.

He is, currently a PhD student (expected to graduate in 12/2013) at Rutgers University, where he is developing a semi-analytical model of vortex induced vibration for bluff bodies in free streams.
