IAF Awards

The International Astronautical Federation (IAF) is pleased to announce its 2010 awards.

The 2010 Allan D. Emil Memorial Award has been awarded to Prof. Dr Nikolay A. Anfimov. Academician Professor Dr Anfimov has made an outstanding contribution to space science and technology not only within his native Russia but also more importantly in the sustained personal promotion of international collaboration.

The Frank J Malina medal for space education went to Dr Jean-Marie Wersinger of Auburn University.

The Luigi Napolitano award for a young researcher went to to Andrew Klesh, a postdoctoral researcher at JAXA

International Astronautical Federation Student Awards

Undergraduate Category

1st prize: Konrad Makowka, Technische Universität München, Munich, Germany for his paper In-Flight Verification of a Novel Method for the Tracking of Rockets.

2nd prize: Brandon Hall, University of Maryland, United States for his paper Lunar Regolith In Situ Resource Utilization: Applications in Dust Mitigation and Vacuum Pyrolysis.

Graduate Category

1st prize:

Max Roessner, Technische Universität München, Munich, Germany for his paper Broadband Light Source for Fiber-Optic Measurement System in Space Applications.

2nd prize: Koki Ho, University of Tokyo, Japan for his paper Software Development of Star Trackers for Small Satellites.

The Hans von Muldau prize went to a postgraduate team from Glasgow University, UK.

Jeanette Heiligers of Strathclyde University, UK won the British Interplanetary Society prize for the best technical paper.
