The IAF at the Global Space Congress 2019

On March 19, the IAF President Dr. Jean-Yves Le Gall and IAF Executive Director, Dr. Christian Feichtinger participated in the Global Space Congress 2019, a strategic gathering of global space industry leaders, where space policies are defined and strategies are developed.

 

A panel on the International Astronautical Congress 2020 to be held from 12 – 16 October 2020 in Dubai took place where Dr. Feichtinger moderated the discussion in which took part, in addition to Dr. Le Gall, Eng. Salem AlMarri, Assistant Director General for Science & Technology Centre at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) and Chair of the IAC 2020 Local Organizing Committee, and H.E. Dr Mohamed Al Ahbabi, Director General of the UAE Space Agency, Director General of the IAC 2020 Host Space Agency and IAF Vice President for Global Membership Development.

Among other things, Dr. Le Gall explained why Dubai was chosen by the IAF as host city for the IAC 2020 and how it fits into the IAF’s missions, Salem AlMarri explained why bringing the global space community to the United Arab Emirates is so important for the country and Dr. Al Ahbabi defined what the IAC 2020 in Dubai means for the UAE’s leadership state-wide and how the support of the country’s leadership towards the IAC 2020 is.

 

On the same day, Dr. Le Gall gave a presentation on the IAF, its missions and upcoming events, but also on the importance the Federation grants to emerging countries and diversity through a series of events and activities.
