IAF Bureau
The IAF Bureau is one of the main organs of the International Astronautical Federation, consisting of Elected and Appointive Officers.
The IAF Bureau generally meets five times a year – twice in March during the IAF Spring Meetings held in Paris and three times during the International Astronautical Congress (IAC) in September/October.
Duties of the IAF Bureau include:
- Receive applications for Membership and report its recommendation to the General Assembly;
- Recommend to the General Assembly for consideration the termination of Membership;
- Recommend and supervise the arrangements for the plenary meetings of the General Assembly and for congresses, symposia and other such IAF meetings;
- Prepare an agenda for the plenary meetings of the General Assembly;
- Supervise the preparation of an annual financial report to the General Assembly;
- Appoint interim committees;
- Take appropriate measures for developing the cooperation of the Federation with national and international organizations, societies and bodies;
- Perform such additional duties as may be directed by the General Assembly.
The President and Vice Presidents are elected for three years. The IAF President and IAF Vice Presidents shall serve in their office according to the provisions in the IAF Constitution for a maximum period of two non-consecutive terms.
