High-level Meeting at the Government of the Republic of Serbia

From 30 to 31 July 2026, Dr. Christian Feichtinger, Executive Director of the International Astronautical Federation (IAF), visited the Republic of Serbia at the invitation of the Government of Serbia. The visit was organized by the Cabinet of Minister of International Economic Cooperation Dr. Nenad Popović, with the objective of introducing the IAF leadership to Serbia’s scientific, technological, and innovation ecosystem, and exploring opportunities for future engagement with the international space community.

Dr. Feichtinger also visited the BioSense Institute – Research and Development Institute for Information Technologies in Biosystems. The visit showcased Serbia’s capabilities in advanced technologies, digital innovation, data science, and applications supporting sustainable development and societal challenges.

Discussions with Minister Dr. Nenad Popović focused on the importance of international cooperation in space, the opportunities offered by engagement with the global space community, and the role of the IAF in connecting governments, space agencies, industry, academia, research institutions, and emerging space nations.

The visit also provided an opportunity to exchange views on the development of national space capabilities and the benefits of participation in international space activities.
