Alain WAGNER

Airbus Defence and Space SASVice-President, Marketing and Sales, Head of Institutional Space Business

Alain has been an aerospace engineer since 1985 and joined CNES in 1986 where he was in charge of flight mechanics for Ariane and Hermes and participated in 3 Ariane launch campaigns in Kourou. In 1989, he started working for Aerospatiale Espace & Defence where he was responsible for the advanced studies of Ariane 5, small/medium and reusable launch vehicles. In 1998, Alain was seconded for 3 years in the Coordination of Space Activities at the European Commission, when the Galileo and Copernicus programmes were emerging. In 2001, he became the Airbus coordinator for Missile Defence activities before moving on in 2005 to be Deputy Head of Business Development at Astrium Space Transportation and in 2007, was appointed Head of Strategy, M&A at Astrium Space Transportation where he contributed to the creation of ArianeGroup. In 2010, Alain was appointed Vice-President, International and Space Institutions at Airbus Defence and Space.
