Alessandra Barco

University of Leicester • Aerospace Engineering Fellow

Dr Alessandra Barco received her PhD in Physics & Astronomy from the University of Leicester in 2023 and a Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering from the Politecnico di Torino in 2014. In 2015, she did a post-graduation internship at TAS-I in Turin, where she was employed as a mission analysis engineer for ExoMars. Since April 2016, she has been working at the University of Leicester, in a team developing space nuclear power systems as part of a European Space Agency funded program. The focus of her work are the safety aspects related to the use of radioisotope power systems in a space mission. More recently, she has also been involved in the development of the CDF at Space Park Leicester.
