Alessandro GOLKAR

Skoltech’s Space Center • Associate Director

Prof. Alessandro Golkar is Associate Director of Skoltech’s Space Center and Assistant Professor at the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (Skoltech). He holds a Ph.D. degree in Aeronautics and Astronautics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and Master’s degree and undergraduate degrees in Astronautical and Aerospace Engineering from the University of Rome “La Sapienza”. He is a member of the AIAA, IEEE, and INCOSE. Dr. Golkar’s professional activity focuses on research, education, and innovation in the space technology and systems engineering domains. His research interests lie in the areas of systems architecture, federated satellite systems, and concurrent engineering, and identifying technologies and processes in these areas that result into startup ventures with his students. He is author of 44 publications and serves as a technical referee for the AIAA Journal of Spacecraft and Rockets, AIAA Journal of Aerospace Information Systems, INCOSE Systems Engineering Journal, Acta Astronautica, and the IEEE Transactions on Aerospace and Electronic Systems, and as the Guest Editor of the 2015 Special Issue on Federated and Fractionated Satellite Systems hosted by the AIAA Journal of Aerospace Information Systems (JAIS). He has prior work experience with ESA and worked on several research projects sponsored by NASA HQ, Caltech JPL, and BP.
