Anna KAPINIARI

Canadian Space Agency (CSA)Director General of Space Exploration

Anna Kapiniari became the Canadian Space Agency’s Director General of Space Exploration in 2023. She is responsible for space exploration programs and operations, including Canada’s participation in the International Space Station and the Lunar Gateway, astronomy and planetary missions, space robotics, science on the ISS, and the astronaut program.

Ms. Kapiniari has been part of the Canadian Space Agency since 2000 and a member of its executive board since 2013. Most recently, she was the Executive Director of Communications and Public Affairs where she spearheaded many national communication campaigns for major projects like astronaut missions. Prior to joining the public service, Ms. Kapiniari worked as a commercial lawyer, a journalist and as Communications Director to a federal government Cabinet Minister. She holds a Bachelor of Law from the Université de Montréal and a Graduate Diploma in Journalism from Concordia University. Ms. Kapiniari has received several public service awards throughout her career, including the Prime Minister Award of Excellence.
