Constant CHUMA

Constant Chuma is a lecturer and PhD candidate (Geophysics and Remote Sensing) in the Department of Applied Physics at the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) in Zimbabwe. He holds a BSc (Hons) in Applied Physics, a Masters degree in Geophysics and a postgraduate diploma in Higher Education from NUST, Zimbabwe. Chuma is one of the Zimbabwean Young Scientists who was sent to the African Regional Centre for Space Science and Technology Education in English (ARCSSTE-E) in Nigeria for postgraduate studies in Space Applications in 2012, where he emerged as the overall best student since the inception of the course implementation in 2000. The programme is meant for capacity-building in developing countries in the application of space and technology. He is an active member of the Zimbabwe Young Scientific Forum, a body formed by Zimbabwean academics, and intended to promote excellence and creativity in science. In his current research work Constant Chuma is showing the importance of space science and technology in the attainment of sustainable development in a country. His research interests include the application of space science in exploring the natural resources and environmental changes. His view on the challenges of developing nations in failing to adopt the integration of space science and technology in their economies can be solved by regional and international involvement.
