European Space Agency (ESA)Technical Lead for ESA’s Moonlight/LCNS Phase A/B1 study

David Gomez Otero is a Space Segment Engineer in the Telecommunications directorate of the European Space Agency, based in ECSAT, UK. He is currently the Technical Lead for ESA’s Moonlight/LCNS Phase A/B1 study. Beyond Moonlight duties, he is involved in several satellite telecommunications systems, payloads, products and technologies developments under ESA’s ARTES Core Competitiveness (ARTES CC) programme.

David Gomez Otero received a Master’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC), Spain, in 2002, where he specialised in radiofrequency and electronics. Over the years he has complemented his education background with several trainings specialized in different aspects of the space technologies.

His work has been closely related to hardware development activities, firstly as R&D Engineer at the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in Oberpfaffenhofen, developing an advanced Airborne Synthetic Aperture Radar for earth imaging purposes.

Later, in MIER Comunicaciones S.A. (now SENER Aerospace) as Technical Manager for the development of RF and Microwave instruments, where he participated in several ESA Missions such as GAIA, Galileo and Meteosat 3rd Generation.
