Fabrizio Piergentili is Full Professor in Space Systems at the Università di Roma “La Sapienza,” where he coordinates the activities of the Laboratory of Space Systems and Surveillance and is responsible for the courses of: “Space Systems”, “Aircraft Systems”, “Spacecraft Design”, “Space Guidance and Navigation”, “Space Surveillance and Space Traffic Management” . He holds a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering and a Laurea in Aerospace Engineering from the same University. His research focuses on Cubesats and small satellite design, manufacturing and operations, space debris observation and mitigation and space guidance and navigation. Throughout his career, he has been involved in numerous projects and collaborations, including the manufacturing and launch of five cubesat since last 10 years and the establishment of a network of observatories, all around the world, entirely dedicated to space surveillance and tracking. He has published extensively, with over 60 peer-reviewed journal articles and over 2200 citations, reflecting his contributions to the field of aerospace engineering. Prof. Piergentili is an active member of the International Academy of Astronautics (IAA) Committee on Space Debris and serves on the editorial boards of prominent journals such as “The Journal of the Astronautical Sciences” and “Aerospace.” He also holds patents related to microsatellite deorbiting and integrated photovoltaic modules.
