Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA)Gateway Program Manager

Mr. Fumiya Tsutsui began serving in the role of Gateway Program Manager for JAXA in 2021. He is responsible for leading Japan’s contributions to the orbiting lunar space station, which include critical components of the International Habitation module (I-Hab), powerful battery capabilities and unique spacecraft for launch and delivery support missions. Mr. Tsutsui began his career in 1989, when he was responsible for the facilities maintenance at Tanegashima Space Center of the National Space Development Agency of Japan, NASDA (predecessor of JAXA). In 1991, Mr. Tsutusi was part of the development team for the Japan Exploration Module (Kibo), Japan’s scientific research module contribution to the International Space Station, which led to his assignment in 2018 as the program manager of International Space Station.
