Hiroshi Sasaki is the Vice President and Director General for Human Spaceflight Technology Directorate in the Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA). In this capacity Mr. Sasaki is engaged in expanding human activity areas, promoting full-scale utilization of the unique space environment mainly through the operation and utilization of the International Space Station (ISS) and returning benefits to humanity and activities on Earth. Mr. Sasaki leads the development of vision and scenarios for future in space human spaceflight activities that includes plans to explore the Moon and Mars. JAXA has been promoting mission development and system studies on international space exploration targeting the Moon and Mars by gathering Japanese technologies and knowledge with examples including the crewed pressurised rover as an important role in developing mobility on the lunar surface for sustainable exploration activities.

Mr. Sasaki is also in charge of the Space Exploration Center and Space Exploration Innovation Hub Center at JAXA. Before joining JAXA, Hiroshi Sasaki completed a Masters of Engineering at the University of Tokyo.
