Dr. Marsalek (PhD in biomedical engineering in 2000) works since 2002 as research fellow at the Institute of Aerospace Medicine at the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in Cologne, Germany. Within the Biophysics Research group at the Radiation Biology Department he leads the electronics development of active radiation instruments for dosimetry of cosmic radiation in space. He designed the DLR M-42 radiation detectors where 16 of them will fly on the NASA Artemis 1 mission as part of the MARE experiment. He acts currently as the Co-Investigator for the instrument provided by DLR for the Astrobotic Peregrine Lunar Lander and the DLR RAMIS detector on the DLR Eu:CROPIS satellite.
