Kimiya Komurasaki

Kimiya Komurasaki is a professor at the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Graduate School of Engineering, the University of Tokyo, and serving as Editor-in-Chief for “Transactions of the Japan Society for Aeronautical and Space Sciences.”

He received his Ph.D. in 1992 from the University of Tokyo, where he conducted research on Electric Propulsion, and then joined the faculty of Nagoya University for high enthalpy and plasma flow researches related to reentry physics. In 1998, he moved to the University of Tokyo, where since 2014 he has been a professor both in Departments of Advanced Energy and of Aeronautics and Astronautics. He is active in the areas of Electric Propulsion, Beamed Energy Propulsion, and Arc/Laser plasma generators.
