Laurie ROUSSEAU-NEPTON

Laurie Rousseau-Nepton is an assistant professor at the University of Toronto and the Dunlap Institute, and a member of the Mashteuiatsh community. Previously, she was a resident astronomer at the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope. She earned her PhD from Université Laval in 2017, focusing on star formation in spiral galaxies using imaging Fourier-transform spectrographs (IFTS). She helped develop these instruments and now leads the SIGNALS project, studying over 50,000 star-forming regions. Rousseau-Nepton also advances new astronomical instrumentation and promotes inclusive science by integrating Indigenous knowledge and archaeoastronomy into research and education across Turtle Island.
