Liévin NDAYIZEYE

Liévin Ndayizeye is an environmental safeguards specialist at the Urban Resilience Emergency Project in Burundi. In this capacity, he supports the implementation of the project in an environmentally sustainable manner. He is responsible for executing the environmental safeguards program in accordance with national regulations and World Bank safeguard requirements as detailed in the Environmental and Social Commitment Plan and related social and environmental instruments prepared for the project. Liévin previously worked as an environmental specialist at the Burundi Environment Management Authority (OBPE), where he supported the accreditation process of a National Implementing Entity (NIE) to the Adaptation Fund, assessed environmental and social impacts of projects, mobilized funds through CTCN innovation technologies, and contributed to the design of AF concept notes. Before joining OBPE, he was a consultant in charge of biodiversity at the Clearing House mechanism (CHM Burundi). Liévin earned a master's degree in biology of organisms and ecology from the University of Burundi, with a focus on landscape and terrestrial ecosystem management. He is passionate about fruit fly research and has already published several papers on the ecology of fruit flies. Liévin is a Burundian national, fluent in French, English, and Kiswahili.
