Marco Schmidt

Marco Schmidt is Professor at University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt. His research interests are intelligent systems in robotics and computer science related topics in space technology. From 2014 to 2021 he was Professor at Bochum University of Applied Sciences. He initiated the Robotics and Computer Technology group at the newly founded Campus Velbert Heiligenhaus.

Marco Schmidt is active in the Space Eduation and Outreach Committee (SEOC) since 2007. For many year he was acting as Coordinator of the E2 symposium, furthermore he is coodinating the student competition which is held in the scope of the E2 sessions.

Marco Schmidt studied computer science at the University of Würzburg. After finishing his Diploma degree in 2006, he started to work as scientific collaborator in the field of space technology. He received his doctorate degree (Dr. rer. nat.) from the University of Würzburg in 2011. Before he was appointed at Bochum University of Applied Sciences, he worked as Professor for Telematics with focus on intelligent systems.
