Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC)Space Science Department Director

Mariam Alshamsi graduated from the American University of Sharjah (AUS) with a degree in B.S. Computer Engineering. She directly joined Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) in July 2013 as an Associate Ground Software Engineer working in the Mission Control Section. Mariam worked on assessing the ground control station software tools, which was used for Dubai Sat 1 and Dubai Sat 2 operation and was part of the LEOP team for Dubai Sat 2. She later joined the Advanced Aerial Systems Program (AASP) as an Avionics System Engineer and worked with a team on a collaboration project with Airbus DS to fly a High-Altitude Pseudo Satellite (HAPS), Zephyr UAV. Mariam took various roles including being part of the pre-launch team and operation team during the successful test flight trial of the aircraft in Dubai airspace (September 12, 2014). After the announcement of the Emirates Mars Mission (EMM) in 2015, Mariam joined the Space Science section to support promoting the science sector here in the UAE. Currently, she is leading the team as a Director of Space Science Department. Mariam is also leading the Instrument Science team as part of the science team involved in the EMM project. She is also a member of the Emirates Science Council and chairing the Youth Science Council.
