Mariam Naseem

Mariam Naseem is a multi-faceted space leader and PhD candidate in Planetary Geology at the University of Maryland, working with NASA Goddard to study icy ocean worlds through polar analog fieldwork. Before her PhD, she worked with the Canadian Space Agency’s Industry Relations team, supporting Canadian space companies in business development initiatives. She has also contributed to the Open Lunar Foundation as a Research Fellow, developing an open communication architecture for the Moon, and conducted space policy research at Arizona State University’s Space Governance Lab, focusing on emerging space nations. Mariam’s background spans science, engineering, business, and policy. She holds an MBA from the University of Toronto and a BSc in Electrical Engineering from UT Austin. A dedicated advocate for women and underrepresented minorities in aerospace, she serves in multiple advisory and mentorship roles. Her leadership has earned her several honors, including the IAF Young Space Leader Award, SSPI 20 Under 35 Award, and the IAF Emerging Space Leader Award.
