Maruška STRAH

Slovenia Space Office • Secretary

Maruška Strah is serving as the Secretary in the Slovenian Space Office at the Ministry of Economy, Tourism and Sport of Republic of Slovenia since September 2024 and the Principal for Slovenia to the Artemis Accords. She has worked in the field of space law, focusing on STM, security, and sustainability for over 10 years, and joined the Slovenian Space Office as an expert covering these topics. For her work and extensive contributions to the field of Space Traffic Management, Maruška received the Space Law Award for Young Achievers awarded by the International Institute of Space Law. From 2018 to 2023, Maruška was serving as the Executive Director of the WSWA (World Space Week Association). In recognition of her outstanding contributions, she was honored with the prestigious International Astronautical Federation Young Space Leader Award in 2022. She earned her bachelor's and master’s degree at Webster University Vienna in 2007 and 2011. During her internship at the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs in 2018, she gained valuable insights into the work of both the public and private sectors involved in the space industry. Currently, Maruška is pursuing a Ph.D. in Legal Studies at the Law Faculty of the University of Vienna. Her research primarily focuses on Space Traffic Management, which reflects her main area of interest and expertise. She is an active member of the International Institute of Space Law, where she serves as the CoChair of the Space Traffic Management Working Group since 2021. Maruška is also a member of the International Astronautical Federation Space Traffic Management Committee, the International Association for the Advancement of Space Safety, and the European Centre for Space Law.
