Massimiliano Pastena

European Space Agency (ESA)System Manager, Scout Projects

Massimiliano Pastena was born in Naples Italy in 1970. He received his Aerospace degree from University of Naples “Federico II” in 1995 and his Pd.D in Aerospace Sciences and Technologies from Second University of Naples, Naples, Italy, his Post graduate certification in Technology Management from open University, Milton Keynes, UK and his Post Graduate diploma in Machine learning and Artificial Intelligence from Emeritus in collaboration with Columbia University, New York, USA. He has almost 30 years of experience in space mission design and development and was among the pioneer of micro satellite in the ‘90s and later of CubeSats. Authors of tens of publication on the major aerospace peer reviewed journal, from ’95 to ’00 He was research assistant at University of Naples and from ’00 He worked in SMEs, research institute and NewSpace startups. In 2017 He join the European Space Agency where He is System Manager for the Scout projects, a new framework for the innovation in Earth Science using Micro and CubeSat satellite.
