Tor Vergata University • Assistant Professor

Mauro Leonardi was born in 1974 in Rome. He received his Laurea cum laude in Electronic Engineering in May 2000 from Tor Vergata University in Rome, where he also earned his Ph.D. in October 2003. His doctoral research focused on target tracking, air traffic control, and navigation. He is currently an Assistant Professor at Tor Vergata University, where he teaches Satellite Navigation and Surveillance Systems and Fundamentals of Radar and Localization. His main research interests include radar, air traffic control, Advanced Surface Movement Guidance and Control Systems (ASMGCS), satellite navigation signals, integrity and analysis, new surveillance systems for air traffic control (ATC), positioning and localization algorithms, and security. In terms of methodology, his work involves signal analysis and processing (including super-resolution techniques, estimation, and interference), estimation theory, statistical model simulation, fingerprinting, and pattern recognition. He is a member of the Mission Advisory Board of the Italian Space Agency for the LUGRE project, and he has been involved in several research projects related to ATC and lunar navigation systems, including: SATERA, MoonLight, Lunar Satellite Navigation System, Jamming/Garbling Detection and Mitigation for 1090ES, Location Competition, SISAG, Ganimede, HABITAT, INFOSAT, Galileo Test Range, EGNOS to Galileo, and NASIA. He serves as a reviewer for various journals and conferences, such as IEEE Transactions on Aerospace and Electronic Systems, IET Radar, Sonar & Navigation, and European Microwave Week, among others.
