Pavel Trivailo

Prof. Dr. P.M. Trivailo is a Professor of Aerospace Engineering at RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia, with expertise in vibrations, dynamics and control, non-linear system modelling, numerical simulations, and Virtual Reality. He has authored over 350 publications, including 3 books, 5 book chapters, and 85 inventions and commercial software packages. Prof. Trivailo has led numerous high-profile projects with the ARC, DSTG, and the European Space Agency, notably on aerial, underwater, and space cable-towed systems. He served as Head and Task Manager for the RMIT/DSTO Centre of Expertise in Aerodynamic Loading and developed advanced tether models and simulators for DSTG systems, including aerial decoys and the UUV "Wayamba." He contributed to the deployment of ESA’s YES-2 mission (the longest space tether system launched in 2008) and JAXA’s space tether mission in 2010. He earned his PhD in 1980 from the “Igor Sikorsky KPI” National Polytechnic University of Ukraine and has been with RMIT since 1992. Over 32 years, he has lectured in more than 40 subjects across aerospace, mechanical, and automotive disciplines, and has supervised 30 PhD and Master's research students. Prof. Trivailo is an Academician of the International Academy of Astronautics and has been a member of the International Astronautical Federation’s Materials and Structures Committee since 1998. He represented Australia at IAF General Assemblies and served 11 years as Coordinator of the Committee, collaborating with over 40 space experts globally.
