Philip A. GARRANT

Brig. Gen. Philip A. Garrant is the Deputy Commander, Space and Missile Systems Center, Los Angeles Air Force Base, California. As Deputy Commander, he is responsible for assisting the commander in managing the research, design, development, acquisition and sustainment of space and missile systems, launch, command and control and operational satellite systems. The Space and Missile Systems Center is the nation’s center of technical expertise for military space acquisition with more than 5,000 employees nationwide and an annual budget of $6 billion. Prior to assuming his current position, General Garrant was the Director of the Space Superiority Directorate where he equipped U.S. forces with space control systems to gain, maintain and exploit space superiority.

General Garrant received his commission from the Air Force ROTC program at the University of Maryland in 1991. During his career, he has served in a variety of acquisition positions including Systems Engineer, Program Manager, Program Element Monitor, Squadron Commander and Senior Materiel Leader.
