Pietro Ubertini

Laurea cum Laude at University “La Sapienza”, Rome, Italy, in 1973. Prof. Pietro Ubertini in the 70’-90’ has been Principal Investigator of several stratospheric Balloon Borne experiments in the field of high energy astronomy flown from Trapani–Milo (Italy,1975 to 1985), in India (Hyderabad, 1980), USA (Palestine, Texas 1982-88), Brazil (1983) and Australia (1986-89). He is Principal Investigator of the IBIS gamma ray telescope on board the INTEGRAL ESA satellite and deputy PI of the Limadou CSES-02 Sino-Italian program. From 2005 to 2012 served as Director of the Space Astrophysics Institute in Rome, and from 2007 to 2009 was Member of the Scientific and Technical Committee of the Italian Space Agency. From 2012 to 2016 Director of the newly born Institute for Space Astrophysics and Planetology of the National Institute for Astrophysics. Since August 2022 is Vice-President of COSPAR (Committee on Space Research) and Italian National Representative at the Council; Member of the Space Astronomy
 Technical Committee of IAF (International Astronautical Federation), and former President of the International Astronomical Union Division B: Facilities, Technologies and Data Science.

Actual position: Vice President of COSPAR; Associate Director of Research to INAF and ASI.
