Rahul Rughani

Arkisys • Chief Systems Engineer

Rahul is the Chief Systems Engineer and Co-Founder at Arkisys. He is focused on the overall design, development, and testing of all spacecraft at Arkisys, working to ensure all payloads will be successful in their mission. Each spacecraft that Arkisys builds is modular, and Rahul is providing the key technology necessary to achieve modular spacecraft interconnection in a rapid and safe manner.

Most recently, he was the lead systems engineer on the Dodona CubeSat mission at the University of Southern California, leading the design, development, and test of a 3U CubeSat. He has also served as the technical lead for the research arm of CONFERS, the Consortium for Execution of Rendezvous and Servicing Operations, where he analyzed historical and current RPO data to develop a set of metrics and guidelines for safe RPO operations in Earth orbit.

In addition to his tasks at Arkisys, he currently serves as the Technical Committee Lead for the CONFERS RPO Safety Task Force, leading the charge to develop guidelines for safe rendezvous and proximity operations in orbit, as informed by the industry.

Rahul holds a Doctorate in Astronautical Engineering from the University of Southern California.
