Dr. Saroj Kumar is a Research Engineer at the Propulsion Research Center, University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH), where he contributes to advancing next-generation space propulsion technologies. His work supports NASA’s Space Technology Mission Directorate (STMD) through the Space Nuclear Propulsion program at NASA Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC), focusing on the evolutionary development of Nuclear Thermal Propulsion (NTP) and Nuclear Electric Propulsion (NEP) systems for cislunar operations and game changing robotic exploration missions to the outer planets. He leads the development of the Spacecraft Integrated System Model for NTP applications.

Dr. Kumar serves as Vice-Chair of the International Astronautical Federation (IAF) Space Propulsion Committee and is a technical advisor to the Fusion Industry Association’s Space Propulsion Subcommittee. He has authored over 35 publications in aerospace systems and advanced propulsion, and his work has been recognized with several honors, including the IAF Emerging Space Leader Award (2023), SSPI’s “20 Under 35” recognition (2022), and the Distinguished Young Alumni Award (2023), among others.
