Silvano Fineschi

Dr. Fineschi is Senior Researcher at the INAF-Astrophysical Observatory of Torino (Italy) where he served as Director from 2018 to 2023. He has more than 35 years of experience in space instrumentation for UV and visible-light spectroscopy and polarimetry. He has been involved in several solar space missions (e.g., SOHO, Solar Orbiter). He is currently the INAF Scientific Responsible for the Italian Payloads aboard the Solar Orbiter. He is the Principal Investigator of the sounding-rocket coronagraphic experiment aboard a NASA sub-orbital mission. He is the Lead Co-Investigator for Italy’s contribution to ASPIICS coronagraph aboard the ESA formation-flying mission PROBA-3, and to the CODEX coronagraph of NASA aboard the International Space Station.
