Dr. Berger serves as Head of the Biophysics Group, Radiation Biology, for the German Aerospace Center (DLR) Institute of Aerospace Medicine. He studied physics at the Technical University of Vienna Austria and graduated with a PhD in Radiation Physics. His main research interests are in radiation protection, including the development of radiation detectors, and in investigating the radiation load received by humans for missions beyond Low Earth Orbit (LEO). He is Principal Investigator for the DOSIS 3D experiment on the ISS and the MARE project, which will accompany NASA’s Artemis 1 mission to the Moon.
