Tim Crain

Intuitive Machines • Chief Growth Officer / Co-founder

Dr. Crain earned his PhD in spacecraft navigation at the University of Texas at Austin in 2000.  Following that he was a civil servant for 13 years at NASA's Johnson Space Center. Tim co-founded Intuitive Machines with Steve Altemus and Kam Ghaffarian in 2013 as a think-tank applying engineering techniques from human spaceflight to the energy, biomedical, and transportation sectors.   Since 2018, he's been leading technology and growth in a pivot to lunar infrastructure at IM.  In addition to leading Intuitive Machines' technology, business development, and marketing efforts, Tim serves as Mission Director for lunar missions.  Tim oversaw the operations of the IM-1 major maneuvers and landing in February 2024, marking the first commercial landing on the moon and the firs US landing on the moon in over 50 years.
