4th International Meeting for Members of Parliaments

30 September 2012

After three successful International Meetings for Members of Parliaments (IAC 2009, 2010 and 2011), the IAF is looking forward to continue this series with a fourth Meeting in the context of the 63rd International Astronautical Congress 2012, Naples, Italy on Sunday, 30 September 2012.

In pursuing this initiative, the IAF is offering to Members of Parliaments from all over the world a well-defined and organised platform for a dialogue with the traditional space community (governmental representatives, agencies, industry, engineers and scientists) on a global scale.

The event will give an opportunity to present, for political stakeholders from governing and non-governing parties alike, the potential of current or future space technologies to deal with key topics of major and global interest.

The focus topic of the fourth meeting will be “Satellite Applications – Tools for Policy Implementation and Verification”.

The one day programme proposed offers keynote addresses from three distinguished speakers to address the importance of satellite applications for the implementation of government policies and efficient monitoring and verification on a multi-disciplinary scale. An integrated overview of satellite-based services available today, their potential in integrated applications and some concrete examples relevant for policy makers will be offered to the audience.

The social programme of the event foresees a Welcome Drink on Sunday, 29 September and a formal dinner of Sunday evening to which Heads of Space Agencies attending the IAC will be invited. Moreover, all participants to the International Members of Parliaments Meeting are invited to attend the IAC Opening Day.
