Day: Thursday 5 October
Time: 16:45 - 17:30 AZT (GMT+4)
Location: Heydar Aliyev Center (HAC) Auditorium
The global space sector is experiencing significant expansion, accompanied by an increasing number of participants and security challenges. In response, the IAF Security Task Force, comprising subject matter experts from various fields, proposes a GNF session comprised of diverse stakeholders such as space agencies, industry representatives, policymakers, and NGOs. The focus of the conversation will be the crucial importance of operating safely and responsibly within the space domain. A secure space environment not only fuels innovation but also safeguards the benefits that space systems provide to people on Earth. By fostering a secure space domain, we open up endless possibilities for scientific exploration, groundbreaking innovation, commercial development, and harmonious international collaboration. Leading experts will contribute to an engaging, interactive discussion shedding light on emerging security challenges in space and potential strategies to address them.
The session aims to raise awareness about security challenges, stimulate academic debate, and catalyze the development of collaborative solutions. All speakers in this session are members of the IAF Security Task Force. The session format will be a fireside chat, during which speakers will touch upon a variety of subjects. These will range from the sustainability of the space environment and space traffic management to potential threats to outer space activities, actions with deliberately harmful intent, and strategies for reducing space threats. The event's goal is to heighten awareness of emerging security challenges, promote information exchange, discuss obstacles, and explore collaborative solutions for ensuring a safe space environment for all.
