B5.4 Space for Non-Space
Symposium: B5. IAF SYMPOSIUM ON INTEGRATED APPLICATIONS
Session: 4. Advancing Earth Observation with Artificial Intelligence Across the Full Value Chain
Day: Friday 9 October 2026
Time: 10:15 GMT+3
Room: Hall 34
The proposed keynote title is Space for Non-Space as the speech is aimed at showing how space technologies and integrated applications can deliver tangible value far beyond the traditional space sector. It will demonstrate that space is not an isolated domain, but a powerful enabler for a wide range of industries, including energy, agriculture, transport, finance, and ecosystem preservation. The speech will reinforce the importance of bridging the gap between the space and non-space communities, fostering a shared understanding of needs, opportunities and pathways for international collaboration.
The speech will highlight how integrated applications enabled by space and other technologies play a pivotal role in tackling environmental challenges, enhancing operational efficiency and advancing sustainable development across all industrial sectors. The keynote will provide practical, real-world examples of how space assets and applications contribute to improving quality of life and strengthening economies on Earth. It will illustrate the positive impact of space-enabled data and services in areas such as biodiversity preservation, resilience of critical infrastructure and global decarbonisation efforts.
It will be presented how new business models are created as integrated applications shape new value chains and create entirely new market opportunities. Integrated applications foster cross-sector ecosystems where data providers, platform operators, and end users co-create value. In this context, space acts as a catalyst—lowering barriers to entry, accelerating digital transformation, and unlocking new revenue streams across industries. By illustrating these dynamics, the keynote will emphasize that enabling new business models is not only about technological advancement, but also about rethinking partnerships, data sharing and commercialization strategies to fully realize the economic potential of integrated applications.
The speech will also emphasize the importance of cooperation across diverse stakeholders, highlighting how partnerships between public agencies, private industry, academia, and representatives of key economic sectors are essential to delivering impactful solutions. Drawing on the experience of the ESA Sectorial Task Forces, the keynote will demonstrate how collaboration drives both innovation and inclusivity within the global space ecosystem. Collaboration with the non-space community is essential to help shape the direction of technological development, ensuring that solutions are aligned with real user needs. These stakeholders also play a critical role as enablers, supporting the scaling of innovations and maximizing their impact across sectors.
