This Day In Space - 13 March
Ancient observers thought it was a star
But on March 13, 1781 using a homemade telescope
William Herschel a British composer and astronomer discovered it was a planet
He wanted to name it Georgium Sidus to honor King George III
But another name stuck: Uranus for the ancient Greek deity of the sky
