The National Center of Cartography and Remote Sensing is a public institution that is in charge of the production of geographic data, the cartography and the organization of the geomatics’ sector. Its mains missions are to :
- Produce topographic, thematic maps and cities plans, gather the relevant documents with a view to form national archives and ensure their management, publication and marketing
- Perform activities of aerial photography on the national territory or supervise them when made by others.
- Perform the necessary works to establish and preserve levelling and gravimetric networks, covering all the national territory.
- Perform the works related to the border limits preservation.
- Collect, technically process, diffuse and archive the data related to remote sensing.
- Use the space and remote sensing techniques to achieve studies related to national defense and socio-economic development.
- Make technical and scientific studies, research, and ensure trainings.
- Provide services for a valuable consideration for the benefit of public institutions, Tunisian or foreign natural persons and legal entities, and national or international organizations.
- Support public and private institutions by providing quality control services to approve their technical compliance with the references and standards.
- Ensure the organization of the geospatial sector.
- Represent the Republic of Tunisia in the international specialized organizations.
