The Department of Electronic Communications of the Deputy Ministry Research, Innovation and Digital Policy has responsibilities in Radiocommunications, Electronic Signatures, Information Society and Space Policy issues.

The Radiocommunication law assigns to the Department of Electronic Communications executive powers and responsibilities relating to frequency management and general regulation of radio, including satellite communications, as well as market surveillance of radio equipment. Also, the Department of Electronic Communications is responsible for drawing up plans for radio and television coverage. Additionally, the Department of Electronic Communications advise the Deputy Minister Research, Innovation and Digital Policy in all matters relating to electronic communications and represent Cyprus in international organizations and committees of the European Union.

The Department of Electronic Communications has been appointed as the competent authority for the implementation of the Regulation (EU) No 910/2014. (Law of 2018 (Ν. 55(Ι)/2018)). Also, the Department of Electronic Communications has been designated as the executive department of the Deputy Ministry Research, Innovation and Digital Policy to formulate and implement a comprehensive national strategy on Information Society.

Moreover, the Department of Electronic Communications it is, amongst others, the Space office of Cyprus and it has the responsibility for the European Space Policy, including the program Galileo/EGNOS, Copernicus, Govsatcom, SSA/SST and the relations of the Republic of Cyprus with the European Space Agency (ESA).

Our mission is the digital transformation of Cyprus with the support and promotion of the ICT (Information and Communications Technologies) and Space Technologies for the provision of high quality and secure electronic services, within affordable prices, resulting in the increase of social and economic welfare and in general the exploitation of the benefits of the new digital age.
