On the occasion of China Space Day, on behalf of the International Astronautical Federation (IAF) and from me personally I am pleased to convey my heartfelt congratulations to the China National Space Administration (CNSA) and I sincerely wish you happiness and prosperity together with my best wishes for your national wellbeing, as well as for the future of your country. May the ties of friendship and co-operation between the IAF and China continue to strengthen in the coming years.
We very highly appreciate the successes China achieved over the last 50 years. We sincerely hope for the further development of relations between the IAF and China. It is great to attest that the Chinese people have achieved impressive accomplishments in performing crucial transformations in the space field over the years, because of that your country has occupied a deserved position on the international scene. Because of the balanced space policy and brave initiatives, China is enjoying deserved universal esteem. Because of your outstanding activity, the history of space in China is a history of triumphant high principles based on the respect of the past and a confident vision for the future.
China has overcome many difficulties and today is a recognized leader in the promotion of space for the benefit of humankind. The IAF also works towards its vision of a space-faring world cooperating for the benefit of humanity. Following its motto “Connecting @ll Space People”, the Federation wants to promote all those that are advancing knowledge about space and supporting the development and application of space assets. The IAF like China believes that Astronautics is key to achieve peace and human development.
This year we celebrate the 50th anniversary of China’s long list of space exploration successes that began on 24 April 1970, when its first carrier rocket, a Long March-1, sent the Dongfanghong I satellite into space. These days when you are celebrating the 50th anniversary, there are many achievements deserving to be celebrated. China has turned into a regional and global leader demonstrating that space leadership is based on constructive and active participation in international dialogue. China indeed is one of the greatest participants of international collaboration in space. We are proud of the close ties with China.
The IAF is very pleased to be part of the celebration of the Chinese achievements in aerospace and its serious ambitions to explore the stars. Space is a strategic opportunity to innovating hence contributing to the world’s growth and the welfare of humankind. Let’s together keep on working to promote cooperation, advance international development, share knowledge, and promote the workforce of tomorrow.
