From Climate Data to Climate Finance: Rwanda’s Approach to Risk-Informed Financing

Day: Wednesday 3 June
Time: 11:35 - 12:05

This session will showcase Rwanda’s practical approach to translating climate and satellite data into actionable financial instruments. Led by the Rwanda Green Fund, with technical support from CGIAR Hub for Sustainable Finance, ImpactSF, the session will present how climate intelligence can be embedded into financial decision-making to improve risk pricing, strengthen investor confidence, and unlock scalable climate finance.

Using the AgriTech4Rwanda Innovation Challenge as a live case study, the session will demonstrate how satellite data, historical weather patterns, agronomic data, predictive analytics, blended finance, and parametric insurance can support resilient investments in climate-sensitive sectors such as agriculture.

The session will bring together financial institutions, insurers, investors, data providers, regulators, development partners, and AgriTech actors to explore how climate risk can be better understood, priced, financed, and scaled across sectors and markets.
