Competence centre for space at SERI
The Space Division of the State Secretariat for Education, Research, and Innovation SERI (Swiss Space Office) is the Swiss federal government's competence centre for national and international space matters. It promotes and coordinates Swiss activities in space research and utilisation. Swiss space policy and the new federal legislation on space operations are being developed under the leadership of SERI.
Switzerland as a reliable partner
Switzerland has been actively involved in space since the beginning of the space age. Today, thanks to its innovative strength and precision, it is regarded as a competitive and innovative partner in Europe and worldwide.
Cooperation with the ESA
Most of Switzerland's space activities are carried out in close cooperation with the European Space Agency (ESA). The Swiss delegation to the ESA represents national interests vis-à-vis the ESA and the other member states. It is the central information hub between Swiss stakeholders from science, industry and users, and the ESA.
Swiss Space Policy
As a space nation with a long tradition and a founding member of the ESA, Switzerland is a hotspot for space research and cutting-edge technology. Its space policy focuses on excellence, innovation, and international cooperation, and it pursues its goals with openness, reliability, and quality. Switzerland is not only a competitive partner, but also actively shapes European and international space activities and is committed to innovation, security, and sustainability.
