IAF-ASE session: Is spaceflight now safe for humans?

Day: Friday 9 October
Time: 10:15 - 11:15
Location: D3 - NEST Congress and Exhibition Centre

In the past decades, we have become better at managing the risks of spaceflight for humans. We have more reliable rockets, we understand better how the body behaves in microgravity, we have learned from our failures and we have improved our operations through years of experience. But although space is becoming more accessible to more people, spaceflight remains inherently risky. Are today’s missions safer, or have we simply become better at managing the risks?
