A2.6 Space Science Research Progress and Planning of China Space Station
Symposium: A2. IAF MICROGRAVITY SCIENCES AND PROCESSES SYMPOSIUM
Session: 6. Microgravity Sciences on board of Space stations
Day: Friday 9 October 2026
Time: 13:45 GMT+3
Room: G1
China Space Station(CSS) has completed since December 2022. There are 14 experiment racks in pressurized module of CSS and some exposed facilities outside CSS. It can support multiple disciplines of research that include the research areas of space life science, microgravity fluid science, space material science, fundamental physics, space astronomy and astrophysics, earth science and space technology. CSS has become one of the most important space research platform for scientists all over the world. Up to now, hundreds of experiments have been conducted in CSS and got some interesting results in the areas of space life science, space material, etc. This paper will present the primary research progress onboard CSS which involves the cell research on microgravity-induced osteogenesis impeding and muscle atrophy, closed aquatic ecosystem, rice life cycle from seed-to-seed, metals and alloys solidification, functional crystal growth, fluid dynamics research, and so on. Furthermore, the space science mission planning of CSS will be proposed which includes four research areas (space life science and human research, microgravity physics science, space astronomy and earth science, space technology and application) and 32 related research topics. The research objective, research emphasis and expected results of every research area will be discussed. Finally, the international cooperation mode and mechanism of CSS will be presented for future collaborative research.
