One Space. Shared Future - Legacy of the IAC 2027

Day: Wednesday 25 March
Time: 18:05 -18:35 CET
Location: Seine Room, New CAP Conference Centre

The IAC 2027 theme is "One Space. Shared Future”. While geopolitical tensions rise it becomes clear that the global space sector can do more to use its potential to be united – the 2027 event in Poznan, Poland may serve as a special platform to facilitate necessary discussions and actions.

In 2025 Poland became the world’s 20th largest economy and at the same time its GDP per capita, when adjusted for purchasing power parity, surpassed the one of Japan. The whole Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) region has been an emerging space player with expanding ambitions, following economic growth and increased international investments. Poland's recent activity in launching national satellites, developing space transportation technologies and building up policies for space economy is exemplifies trends seen in many countries and regions globally.

A rapidly expanding institutional, commercial and dual-use space economy puts existing governance and regulatory frameworks to a challenge. The panel will focus on current local and global policy needs for the space sector, using CEE countries as an example. The policy development must also address new threats related to a more connected and polarized society. In the world where new areas of human activity are being identified and used as weapons against adversaries, the motto of the upcoming IAC 2027 - “One Space. Shared Future” - becomes a call to keep space accessible for all humanity - both for space fairing nations and emerging space players. While we live in a divided world where space, instead of uniting, has become another domain of conflict, the panel is to seek how the IAC and space community can support the goal of GSR (Global Social Responsibility) for future generations.
