Abba Zubair

Dr Abba Zubair is a leading expert in regenerative medicine and transfusion therapy at Mayo Clinic. He currently serves as Vice Dean of the Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine and was formerly the Associate Dean of the Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences. He is internationally recognized for pioneering research on stem cells in space. As principal investigator, Dr Zubair led multiple NASA-funded missions that sent mesenchymal and hematopoietic stem cells to the International Space Station to study their growth and therapeutic potential in microgravity. His work earned him the NASA Exceptional Scientific Achievement Medal. In addition to his clinical innovations, Dr. Zubair is a dedicated educator and mentor, and serves in leadership roles with the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy and other professional organizations.
