Harry Cikanek

Mr. Cikanek retired from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) at the beginning of 2021 after serving four years as Director of the Center for Satellite Applications and Research (STAR), providing leadership and oversight of NOAA satellite remote sensing science and application to NOAA’s diverse missions. Prior to this position, Mr. Cikanek served five years as the first Director of the Joint Polar Satellite System, guiding its formation from the cancelled National Polar Orbiting Environmental Satellite System to a robust multi-decade five satellite operational program. Before joining NOAA, Mr. Cikanek served 30 years at NASA. He continues to stay professionally active with part time consulting and service as an adjunct faculty member of the City University of New York Remote Sensing Earth System Institute (CUNY-CREST).
