Rajeev JYOTI

Rajeev Jyoti joined the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in 1987 and currently the Director Technical, of the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe) where he provides technical leadership to fosters innovation and accelerate growth in Indian commercial space sector.

Rajeev is leading the development of Earth Obervation (EO) ecosystem through Public Private Partnership (PPP) program and also facilitating Space exploration activities to non government entities.

He is spearheading the campaign of developing Indian space commercial ecosystems by establishing IN-SPACe Technical Centre dedicated for private companies, facilitating technology transfer, space industry standards and technical mentorship to them.

Before joining IN-SPACe, he worked for more than 36 years in the Space Applications Centre, ISRO, as designer and development engineer for developing microwave payload technologies and state-of-the-art space antenna systems for more than 25 satellites I.e . ISRO GSAT series of communication, IRNSS series of navigational and Earth observation payloads .

Among his major accomplishments are the development of India’s first constellation of three Microwave RADAR Imaging X-band satellites for space-enabled disaster applications. Other significant contributions include the development of the C-band RADAR Imaging Satellite (RISAT-1 & RISAT-1A), NASA-ISRO SAR, and RADAR Altimeters for Chandrayaan-2 and Chandrayaan-3 missions.

He was awarded a United Nations long-term fellowship at the European Space Agency in the Netherlands. He is the co-inventor of 14 patents and has authored over 170 papers. His achievements have earned him several prestigious awards, including the IETE Raj Mitra Award (2008), IEEE Indian Council Outstanding Industry Award (2020), ISRO Performance Excellence Award (2015), Individual Merit Award (2012), and five Team Leadership Awards for his contributions to ISRO space programs.

He is fellow of IIndian National Academy of Engineering (INAE), Fellow of Aeronautical Society of India , Fellow of Institution of Electronic and Telecommunications Engineering (IETE) and Senior member of IEEE, AP, AESS and MTTs society.

His last position held at ISRO was Associate Director Space Applications Centre.
