Mr. Ruy Pinto served as CEO of SES from June 2023 to February 2024, driving an update to the SES strategy that eventually led to the acquisition of Intelsat, a re-negotiation of the mPower MEO Satellite Program and a senior leadership team transition. Mr. Pinto has also served as an advisor to the SES CEO primarily on the European Commission IRIS2 Space Program until Q3 2024 leading to an SES leadership position in the IRIS2 Progam.

Mr. Pinto also served as an Advisor to the CEO and Board of ReOrbit, a Finland based start-up primarily in the small GEO business until October 2025. Currently Mr. Pinto is a Venture Partner at the SparkMind.Capital investment fund, a member of the Advisory Board of the NewSpace Capital Fund in Luxembourg, a Strategy Advisor at Sasken Finland and a Strategy Advisor at MEASAT in Malaysia.

Mr. Pinto served as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at SES from January 2019 to May 2023, responsible for all Engineering and Operations functions at SES. He had been the Deputy Technology Officer since 2017 and took on the additional role of Chief Information Officer (CIO) at SES in 2018.

Mr. Pinto joined SES from Inmarsat where he covered various technical and managerial roles between 1990 and 2016, including two years as CTO of the company from 2012. His last position at Inmarsat, from December 2013, was Chief Operations Officer (COO), responsible for all Inmarsat operational functions. During his tenure as COO and CTO Mr. Pinto was responsible for the Inmarsat 4 and 5 satellite series and was involved on all the key spectrum and regulatory negotiations and agreements on the L and Ka bands for Inmarsat.

Prior to Inmarsat, between 1982 and 1989, Mr. Pinto worked in the first Brazilian domestic satellite generation and was the overall project manager for the largest Brazilian VSAT network at the time.

His external positions portfolio included four years as the Chairman of UKSpace, the UK space industry trade association, and four years as a Director and VP of Space for the Association of Defense, Security and Aerospace Companies (ADS). Mr. Pinto had a six-year appointment as Non-Executive Director of the Space Application Catapult, established by the UK government to foster the development of space applications in the UK. Mr. Pinto served for two years as a Board Member of LuxGovSat, a joint venture between SES and the Luxembourg Government. Mr. Pinto also served for six years as a Member of the SnT Advisory Board of the University of Luxembourg.

Mr. Pinto holds a degree in Electronics Engineering and completed post-graduate studies in Digital Telecommunications Systems, both from the Rio de Janeiro Catholic University (PUC-RJ). Mr. Pinto also has a background in real time control software.

Mr. Pinto is a Luxembourg resident with triple nationality, British, Portuguese (EU) and Brazilian nationalities.
