Ministry of Environment in charge of Tourism • Focal Point for the Adaptation Fund

Fawaz Mohamed Moumini is a climate change expert from the Union of the Comoros, actively involved in national and international climate action processes since 2019. He has served as the country’s Designated National Authority (DNA) to the Adaptation Fund since 2020, playing a key role in mobilizing climate finance.

In 2020, he coordinated the implementation of the Comoros’ Second Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC 2.0) under the UNDP Climate Promise initiative. He is currently supervising the revision process of the Comoros’ NDC 3.0, leading efforts to raise the country’s climate ambition.

Mr. Moumini also serves as the National Focal Point for Transparency under Article 13 of the Paris Agreement, and works closely with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) as a Technical Assistant in the preparation of the country’s first Biennial Transparency Report (BTR).

Since 2025, he has been the National Focal Point for the NDC Partnership, following the Comoros’ official membership in the global initiative. He has actively participated in the UNFCCC negotiation process as a member of the Comoros delegation since COP25 in Madrid, contributing to the advancement of climate negotiations and transparency frameworks.
