Fay Ghani

Fay Ghani is an early-career New Zealand medical researcher at Mayo Clinic in the United States, where she works on NASA-funded projects exploring the therapeutic potential of stem cells in microgravity. Originally from Iraq, she holds a First Class Honours degree in Biomedical Science from the University of Auckland. Fay is also an active science communicator and advocate for international collaboration in space medicine, serving as the Research Communication Director at the Organization for Space Medicine, Engineering and Design (OSMED). In 2024, she received the prestigious Emerging Space Leader award from the International Astronautical Federation for her contributions to space health research and advocacy. She is also the recipient of other awards from Te Punaha Atea Space Institute, Auckland Bioengineering Institute, Northrop Grumman and Space Generation Advisory Council.
